Phases

As an assignment for a Graphic Design Form class, I was tasked with re-designing an album cover and tracklist for an artist of my choice. After testing out a couple of albums to re-design, I chose to re-design the cover for Phases by Chase Atlantic.

Working in steps, I first created covers using only black-and-white text.

Then, I created abstract colored compositions using pictures I took.

Finally, I chose a black-and-white album design and combined it with a couple of images to create a finalized album cover. I chose Phases by Chase Atlantic.

Chase Atlantic has a unique style of music, which, according to the band, is "conjured up dark alternative pop punctuated by rock and R&B." Because of their futuristic and electronic style, I chose to use bright, space-like colors to represent their style. I also chose to italicize the text to represent the pull of the synths and bass in their music.

The final part of the assignment was to create a promotional poster advertising the release of the album.
